Grade 6
Layla Zahra grew up in Austria and attended Vienna University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in education, with a focus on English, geography, and economics. Her first language is German, and she is fluent in Arabic, in addition to English. Layla’s family moved to Williamstown in 2011, when her husband took a position at Williams College.
Layla’s broad teaching experience, as well as her knowledge of international history and affairs, provides rich perspectives to Pine Cobble’s Upper School students and learning community. In the eight years prior to joining Pine Cobble, Layla taught subjects including English, geography, economics, history, biology, and information technology to elementary and middle school students, in both independent and public schools. She also planned and led student field trips in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
Layla is especially happy to share her teaching experience from her most recent position, as a fifth- and sixth-grade teacher. She loves to make education exciting by using a variety of teaching methods. Her main focus is on making every student feel seen and heard, helping them grow as individuals while building a strong team spirit.
