Pine Cobble School Offers Extended Summer Season
Summer day camp includes 11 weeks of programming for toddlers through age 12
Offerings include Quidditch, STEAM, Soccer, Mini-Masters Arts Camp, and more
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA, May 30, 2018. Pine Cobble School is pleased to announce that its summer day camps will include eleven weeks of programming, each with extended days. A wide variety of offerings include academic enrichment, fine arts, instructional athletics… even a week of Quidditch!
Programs begin Monday, June 18, and run continuously through Friday, August 31. Each of the eleven weeks include options for young children, as well as for ages 7-12. All programs will be held on Pine Cobble’s stunning 20+ acre campus, originally an estate designed by Olmstead Associates. In addition, groups will take field trips, hike, and ages 5+ will swim.
“Pine Cobble’s summer programs have always offered a healthy mix of unhurried, child-centered activities in an extraordinary setting,” says Devin Wootton, Pine Cobble’s Assistant Head of School. “These are the ingredients from which lifelong summer memories are made. This year, we’re offering all of these for a longer season, and for more hours each day, making it easier for families to plan.”
Programs include options for young children, and for ages 7+
Ages 2 years 9 months through age six
Themed programs for young children include Early Childhood I, (ages 2 years nine months through age 4) and Early Childhood II (5-6 years old). Both include a careful balance of group activities, free play, stories, art, and movement. Groups will spend ample time together, allowing siblings to play with each other, but will also accommodate age-appropriate differences, like napping needs. The five and six-year old program will include swim lessons twice a week.
Early childhood camp includes weekly themes: Ocean Dive/Beach Party, Aliens & Outer Space, Forest Creatures & Fairies, Mini-Masters Art Studio I and II, Superheroes, Winter in July, Favorite Characters, Jungle Safari, Around the World/Olympics, Dinosaurs, and Nature Exploration.
Ages 7+
For ages 7+, we offer seven weeks of Adventure Camp, plus five weeks of specialty programming. Adventure Camp includes a mix of hikes, fort-building, nature activities, frog catching, intellectual challenges, and inclusive sports for athletes and non-athletes alike. Campers will also swim two days a week. In addition to Adventure Camp, special themed weeks include STEAM Camp with microbiologist Tyler DeWitt, Ph.D. (week of July 30th), All-Sports (week of August 13), Soccer Camp (week of August 20), and — for the first time ever — Quidditch (week of August 27).
Each day, programs run from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and families can drop off their children as early as 8:00 AM. There is also an extended program from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
“I don’t know of any area day camp that offers as many weeks of programming, combined with such full days,” says Nicole Goswami, Pine Cobble’s director of marketing and admission. “We know how challenging it can be for families to plan summers. This year, Pine Cobble is offering the best of both worlds: a single terrific camp that meets families’ scheduling needs.”
Sue Wells, Pine Cobble’s Head of School, agrees: “This really is the best of both worlds.”
Camps have limited spaces, which will be filled on a first-come, first serve basis. To register, or for more information, visit pinecobble.org/summer-program.
