Happy Thanksgiving from Mrs. Wells

As our students work together to prepare this year’s Thanksgiving feast, Mrs. Wells sent a message to families about what today’s tradition is all about. We post them here with our best wishes for a great Thanksgiving weekend for you and your family.

Today’s feast is one of our favorite school traditions. It begins weeks before when the student council diligently works to create a list of items needed and designates each class as responsible for specific items. From the outset, we all know we need each other to make this feast happen. The early childhood division has their own feast in the lower school building and then the first through ninth graders and all faculty and staff dine together in the dining room in Cluett.

The morning of the feast, duties by class continue. Our student council spends much of the morning peeling potatoes, cooking stuffing, and preparing all the food. Early Childhood works to get their rooms ready for their feast and the Lower School offers the centerpieces for the dining room. Then the Fourth Grade arranges the tables, followed by the Fifth Grade who puts out all the place settings. During the feast, members of our student council, in groups of three, share a poem or something they cherish from their many Pine Cobble feasts. Then we all enjoy the delicious meal along with alums who come back to share the day with us. Following the feast the sixth through ninth graders work hard to clear tables, stack chairs, and even wash dishes!

It is a special day in which we all feel part of the effort, give thanks, and celebrate our community.
